L S F ( Sacra Familia)

QUESTIONNAIRE TO BE FILLED OUT PERSONALLY BY EVERY PROFESSED LMC IN PREPARATION FOR THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL MEETING (29.9 to 7.10/ 2001)

Have you really studied the Statutes of the Lay Missionaries of Charity before you took your vows?

Do you think that you have understood the meaning and significance of the vows you have taken as lay people?

Do you think that the LMC Statutes are a help or hindrance to your spiritual growth?

Do the vows reinforce the bond of marriage and family life or cause drift, division and separation in the family?

Are there points in the Statutes not clear enough and need explanation? If so what are they?

Are there rules in the Statutes which are not practical for a lay person to live? Which ones are impractical and why are they so?

Name the main basics of the LMC Statutes. Are they based on solid doctrine of the Catholic Church and of the Magisterium, etc.?

If they are based on solid doctrine and according to the teachings of the Magisterium, which are the main documents that have been quoted in the Statutes?

Have there been other Magisterial documents and teachings published regarding the vocation and mission of the lay people in the Church today, since the Statutes have been written?

Can you give the basic teachings of the Statutes, for example, its teaching on prayer, penance and works of mercy?

Does it make any sense for a lay person to be making vows since they are generally understood to be for religious? What is Canon Law say about vows?

Do you consider your four vows of chastity (conjugal), poverty, obedience and wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor a burden to you? Or are they means of your own sanctification and a help to the salvation and sanctification of others and an incentive to grow in holiness? If yes how? If not, why?

Do my vows make me feel better, holier and superior to others or do they make me feel more and more humble and extremely grateful to God, as the vows are His gifts?

Since I joined the LMC Movement am I becoming more humble, gentle and docile to the will of God and can I say that there is a noticeable difference in my approach to persons I am living or working with, my attitude towards things I have and I use etc.? Do I try to have the attitude of Christ in all my undertakings?

What is the vocation and mission of the LMCs in the world today? Do they tally with what is presented in the Statutes, namely the nature and mission of the LMCs?

What are your expectations from:

the spiritual Directors: International, National, Regional, Local;

the various lay Links: International, National, Regional and Local?

17) Do you think that the LMC formation is adequate enough? If not, why and what are your suggestions to improve the quality of the (LMC) formation?

18) Whom does the LMC formation mostly depend on: on LMCs themselves? Spiritual Directors? Group Links or…?

19) When do the LMCs complete their formation and become true LMCs?

20) Who is an ideal LMC? According to you what are the essential elements that make one an ideal LMC?

21) Can the LMCs of the world be more united? If so, what are the means that make them more united? And what can you do about it?

Do we really need an International Lay Link? If needed, what is his/ her role and responsibilities?

Who appoints the various links?

Do you get enough spiritual support and encouragement from the M.C. Family for the spiritual and personal growth of the LMCs and for their extension and expansion?

What are your priorities in practising the fourth vow of wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor? Who really are the poorest of the poor?

Make a list of the poor according to your priority?

Who are the poorest of the poor whom you really serve everyday? Who is happier: the one who serves or the one who is being served?

In practising the vows of chastity (conjugal), poverty, obedience and wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor what are the main obstacles you face? Please list your difficulties against each vow and say why you find it difficult? What are your suggestions in overcoming these difficulties?

N.B. Please respond to your LMC Link by December 20, 2000.
