Our Lady of Sorrows 2001-09-15

Dearly beloved sorrow-stricken brothers and sisters of America,

Since September 11th 2001 our hearts too are broken and afflicted as we heard the terribly sad news of the tragic events in your beloved land of America. So many innocent lives have been lost; so much unnecessary sufferings and pain to so many people have been caused. 11th September has added a new chapter to the American history book.

God sees and suffers with you; but he also consoles you. He and he alone can bring something good and beautiful out of such tragedy; sure He will, and again he is God and not man. We do not understand His designs for you now; but later you will. We at times are lost in the inscrutable mystery of God. Let us offer us prayers and sacrifices not only for those who do good to us, but above all for those who try to do harm to us, those who try to destroy us and our country. We need to pray with Jesus: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Lk 23, 34) or with St. Stephen who prayed for his persecutors as he was being stoned to death: "Lord, do not hold this sin against them" (Acts 8,60). Let us also pray that there may be no more violence, no more abortion, no more destruction...But only peace. Lord, let there be peace and let it begin with me...Let there be forgiveness and let me be the first one to forgive...

The General Chapter is at our door. Let us offer our pain and anguish for the success of our chapter and for world peace. Let nothing and nobody prevent us from following Jesus' way which is the way of the Cross, Dearly beloved LMC's, please do not turn back, "do not be afraid...Have no fear little flock...for it has pleased your Father to give you the Kingdom" (Lk 12, 32)

There is no turning back...But all the more let us put our trust in Him who can transform hatred into love, bitterness into sweetness, anger into gentleness, pride into humility etc. "Lord, make me a channel of your peace". Hope to see you soon.

Love and prayers. God bless you.

Fr. Sebastian Vazhakala M.C.

N.B. This evening we have the final profession of Br. Leo M.C. Then on October 16th the priestly ordination of Br. Matthew in the Sacred Heart cathedral in New Delhi. Please remember them and their families and all of us in your prayers. "The Lord hears the cry of the poor, blessed be the Lord"

Our Lady of Sorrows, bless your sorrow-stricken people Help us to do all the good we can. Keep us in your most pure heart So that we may please Jesus through you, in you and with you..
